Is there difference in taste in regular and decaf coffee?
i've been wanting to cut back on caffeine and am considering decaf coffee. i've never tried it and wanted to ask people's opinions on whether they can tell the difference ie. obvious, subtle, or something else.
i've found a regular, everyday coffee i really like (Tully's House Blend) that isn't bitter or acidic and want to buy the decaf if they taste the same.

There is a difference in taste between the two. But depending on your taste buds, it's usually not a hugely noticeable difference. Decaf coffee goes through one of two different processes (Swiss Water Processing or European Processing which uses chemicals). Decaf coffee IS regular coffee, BTW, before processing and processing actually leaves about 1-2% of the caffeine in the bean. Because of this additional step of processing, the coffee looses a *bit* of its original flavor and taste. Again, it really depends on how much you are actually looking for the taste difference. I can actually smell the difference between regular and decaf (before its brewed:)) but that's only because I'm a coffee geek! Why not try half regular and half decaf to start and then you can slowly decrease the decaffeinated coffee. that way it will be more gradual of a change, and you save yourself the potential caffeine withdrawal headaches!
Hi! I can't taste a difference, and I cant feel the difference.
And have been drinking coffee for 19years. Some people, however, claim to taste a difference. It must depend on the individual, I think.
*Heres an idea: Instead of buying a whole thing of de-caf, not knowing if you will like it, maybe go to a cafe, coffee house or restaurant and order a decaf. if you like it, then buy some!
Just a thought!
:o)
decaf is sweeter. regular is more bitter but wakes u up more.
A little bit different. If you were blindfolded and asked to tell which one was witch u would probly not. It still has the same flavour
Telling the difference betweem the two is not as easy as distinguishing btwn skim and regular milk.
The only thing missing is the caffeine, and that's the stuff you're addicted to if you claim you can't live without coffee. I think you'd come right back to the drug in regular coffee.
Slight difference in taste and depends on how long you have been drinking coffee but it can give you the same rush as regular coffee!
Venture deep. Take the risk. Ask your dealer if you can buy enough to sample and see for yourself.
I used to work at a coffee shop, where one of my coworkers would refer to the decaf brews as "useless brown water."
It just doesn't taste the same as the real deal.
And also, I might add that I discovered when I worked there that there is no truly decaffinated coffee―they are all bound to have a small amount of caffeine, sometimes as much as light teas.
