Best American Coffee Machine for Residential Use?!

Question:

Best American Coffee Machine for Residential Use?

I'm trying to buy the a coffee machine that makes the hottest coffee possible (starbucks hot) for home use. I'm focused on american coffee (not espresso).

Answers:
Try a Mr. Coffee if you have no experience. If you want ease of use, get a Cuisinart grind and brew. If you want hot, get an old fashioned electric perk machine and these make excellent coffee. If you want a smooth coffee that is healthy to your stomach, try a cold water coffee extractor such as the Toddy system or Filtron system. You can add boiling water to the extract and it is wonderful as well. Bunn systems make drip coffee and have an adjustable thermostat inside if you know what you are doing. There is also the French Press. It is only the best way if you like a lot of residue at the bottom of your cup, but it is hot and some people (plebeians) actually like it. You can probably guess that I don't. All are good options, in the end, it is a matter of personal preference!

My family likes the Hamilton-Beach BrewStation. It's the one that doesn't have a caraffe (sp?) so the coffee doesn't sit on a burner. Reasonably priced, can be found at walmart/kmart type stores.

I am a big fan of the French Press. It allows the best parts of coffee to come out. You heat water as hot as you like and pour it onto the coffee, put on the lid, wait 4 minutes and press down. As for hot, never use boiling water, around 200 degrees is best. anything hotter can and will burn the coffee and it would taste like sludge. Go to your local Starbucks and ask what machines they have. They can help you get the best cup of Starbucks at home.
