Answers:
Tea is made from shredded leaves. Coffee is made from ground-up beans.
Leaves, if left to steep in water--even cold water--will eventually soak enough to flavor the water. They taste better if brewed, but it's not necessary.
Beans, on the other hand, do not steep very successfully without a brewing process. As others have suggested, it's possible to make a coffee bag, but the quality of the coffee is sub-par.
They have. I used to use this product ~10 years ago, but it wouldn't make a very good cup of coffee. I don't know if it's still around - I haven't seen it since then...
Coffee loses its flavor and becomes stale very quickly once it is opened, so I think part of the problem is that they want to vacuum package it as quickly as possible once it has been ground. The added steps of adding it to bags and then sucking the air out of the bags to seal them is probably just too time consuming for the consumer return on investment.

They did. Maxwell House put their instant coffee in a tea bag, aimed for people who want it one cup at a time without brewing an entire pot. It was made like tea
It never sold well, and certainly didn't like it.
Some do I think foldger, and Maxwell house are a few.

The simple answer is that people like different strengths of coffee; also, sometimes you make 4 cups, sometimes more or less... the "coffee bags" would often not be the correct amount required.
Also, different coarsenesses are required by different coffee making devices.

Except you need a special coffee maker that works only with the little coffee bags, since unlike tea where the water needs to sit with the tea in it, for best coffee taste results the water needs to pass through the ground coffee at the right speed and temperature.
There are lots of different variations on these machines, but just about each one requies it's own paticular format of coffee "dose" packets.
there are some coffee brands like folgers for example who have what is called "coffee pods" they are sealed for freshness and have just the right amount for a good taste. some of these pods are for making a single cup. but there are different ones just go check out the coffee isle in the grocery store or search for coffee pods online. they are quite nifty!! hope this helped!

well i know it's very popular in korea to have individual packages of instant coffee, complete with creamer and sugar. u just open, pour into a cup, and add hot water to it! tastes really good... u can buy it here in the states too, it's called Maxim.. i believe it is a Folger's brand but market it more in asia because it is popular there.

I'm pretty sure that Folgers does have coffee bags, at least thet used to. I tried it before & it was good.
