Is vanilla powder halal?!

Question:

Is vanilla powder halal?

does it contain alcohol

Answers:
It does not contain alcohol. It is recommended as a replacement for vanilla extract for muslims trying to eat halal. If you are using vanilla powder to replace vanilla extract in a recipe, you use half the amount of vanilla extract required by the recipe.

I don't think so

It should not have anything to do with meat. If it contains meat or meat related products, then it should be halal. If it contains alcohol stay away from it, because in the Muslim faith, alcohol is forbidden.

Artificial vanilla powder is halal. That's what about 99.9% of the population use in Egypt. When I really want real vanilla flavor, I use vanilla beans. Cut the pod in half and scrape out the insides, and put in your recipe instead of liquid vanilla. Also, I have heard that artificial liquid vanillin is also halal, but the real vanilla liquid for sure is not halal, because it has alcohol. Also, with the powder, be careful. A little bit can go a long way, like about 1/4 of what the recipe calls for. If you buy it in a little canister, then 1/4 tsp = 1tsp vanilla. Or if you buy it in packets like they sell in Egypt, then 1 packet = 1tsp. vanilla.
