Question:

Was tea once prefered to coffee in the US or was it just more widely imported?

Answers:
Boston Tea Party????????? I am guessing they did enjoy tea........
The Boston Tea Party was a protest by the American colonists against Great Britain in which they destroyed many crates of tea bricks on ships in Boston Harbor. The incident, which took place on Thursday, December 16, 1773, has been seen as helping to spark the American Revolution.

I believe when the U.S. was a British colony, tea was popular, thus, the "Tea Revolt" and Boston Harbor...

I love tea myself and prefer it to coffee. It's healthier.

What incognita said....
Because the U.S. started out as a British colony, tea was the preferred drink. But it was also more widely imported since most trade was also with England.
Coffee didnt really get popular until the 1800s when more trade routes with the West Indies opened up.

yes. Remember american history 101?
