What is the quickest and easiest way to cut open a coconut for the first time?!

Question:

What is the quickest and easiest way to cut open a coconut for the first time?

I would like to use as little cooking utensils and other things as possible. Thanks!

Answers:
Drill a couple of holes in the end to drain the milk/juice , wrap in an old towel (in case any little pieces fly), then crack it open with a hammer. If you don't want the juice, just wrap it in an old towel, put it in the sink, plastic pail, etc, and use the hammer. That's the only way I've ever done it, but it works quick and easy.

a jack hammer will work great

it is so hard
i forgot how i did it
it took awhile though

get a hamer

bash it with a blunt hard heavy object

SledgeHammer!! Seriously!!

YOU CAN CRACK IT WITH THE BACK OF A KNIFE.

hard surface and ram it against the edge. if that doesn't work you have an meat cleaver? that'll make short work out of it also.

Ax.

Try doing it Hawaiian style with a river stone! I've done it, and it's pretty easy!

i didn*t know you could open one more than once !

A swift headbut will do the trick,,, i suggest you use someone elses head too.

We have stone steps in our garage, so we whack it against there until it slightly cracks, drain the juice out, and then it's easier to break, hope this helps!
