Why do they call it 2% milk, if its 2% fat, not milk?!

Question:

Why do they call it 2% milk, if its 2% fat, not milk?

Answers:
You need to read the label, you are assuming it says 2% milk, because that is what people have been calling it, but that is not what the carton says -- it is quite clear what it is.

have you tasted it? I'm sure it is 98% water and 2% milk

The labeler's expect you to understand yourself. Obviously you didn't need to ask since you already knew.

cuz if it said "FAT", no one would buy it

not milk 2% of fat but milk fat 2%, get it jerk mode?!?

> ; P

its a generalised concept....it means the milk contains 2% of natural fat...else we call it as skimmed milk...the 6.5% milk is called full creme milk and 4% is called tonned milk

It is just short-hand. In fact, you will see on the label also explained that it is 2% fat content milk - it means that full fat milk has been slightly skimmed. 0% will be completely skimmed.

coz it was named milk b4 fat was found in it!

wow, thats one question i would have never thought of on my own!!
