How much is too much tea? I love tea but does it love me?!

Question:

How much is too much tea? I love tea but does it love me?

I like to drink chamomile tea almost every night, my brother told me once that too much tea isn't good for you, how true is this? Should I cut down on the tea?

Answers:
I think your brother is confusing "real" tea (like black and green teas), with herbal teas like chamomile. Black and green teas have caffeine in them (green much less than black), and too much caffeine can be bad for you if you have high blood pressure or conditions like that. It can raise your blood pressure and make some people jittery or anxious. You wouldn't want to drink caffeine before bedtime anyway because that may disrupt your sleep. But even a couple of cups of black tea a day wouldn't be too much. Much less than a couple of cups of coffee, and the antioxidants in tea are actually good for you.

Chamomile tea doesn't have caffeine in it and may help you relax before bed. One cup of chamomile tea a night is not too much. Even two cups would be okay. (I'm assuming that you're using chamomile tea from a grocery and not brewing your own or getting it as nutritional or medicinal supplement which is a little riskier.) I can't think of any disorders off the top of my head from drinking too much chamomile (maybe gastrointestinal spasms), but you'd have to be drinking a lot more than one cup per day to experience them.

***much more, i can't remember

About 1% of this is true. Black tea or plain tea is bad for you if you drink it all day. Green tea and Chamomile tea are very good for you. Green tea is the best to drink because it gives you vitamins you need. Its good for you because of the water. Water no mater what its added to can be good for you. Even coffee. Even though the cafine isnt good for you the water in the coffee is. Please add if you can how mush you drink per day.

All tea is high in anti-oxiants which is good for your amune system.
Dont believe me??? ask your doctor

1-3- not that mush
4-8 ok
9-15 your a tea addict
16-1,000,000- you have tea in your veins.

You can always have too much of a good thing, but 1 cup chamomile tea a day is not too much; I would go on.

I would not have more than 2 cups a day of chamomile, though. I would have up to 4 cups per day plain tea, green tea or herbal teas, but not all the same tea.

Risks with too much chamomile? Chamomile increases contractions in your lower abdomen, so you could have cramps and build up to other unpleasant lower abdomen reactions. I have even read advice against chamomile tea for pregnant women at risk of miscarriage.
