Skim Milk or Whole Milk?
I know skim milk has less calories, but is the calcium value the same as it is in whole milk? Im thinking of switching back to whole milk after many years since the calorie intake is not much of a difference.

I settled on 2% milk years ago. Same nutritional value as whole milk, but with less fat. Try 2%.
i think the main difference is the fat content
try 2 per % right in the middle , not too thick not too thin.
TRY rice milk....it is good and much better for you.....regular milk is loaded with hormones.
the fat difference is huge. If you managed to get use to skim stick with it or give it up all together.
skim milk has the same calcium value, just less fat.
if you jump back into whole milk, your system may not be too happy. since you have been drinking skim for so many years, you have gotten used to the lack of fat. it could make you really sick.
The calcium value is the same in skim milk , 1% milk, 2% milk, and whole milk. The only thing different is the fat and calorie content.
I drink 1% milk, which has 2.5 grams of fat per 8 oz. I don't like the taste of skim milk.
2% has 5 grams of fat per 8 oz
Whole milk has 8 grams of pat per 8 oz.
Choose for yourself whether or not you want all that fat.

Better skim milk,bec the cholesterol is more an issue than the calcium content.The animal fat is unhealthy but calcium adequacy can be taken in other forms and you can switch to skim milk with more calcium content(fortified).
Let me tell u something truthfully. If u want to taste something nasty, then go for the skim milk. But if u want to taste something good with cereal and so on, then go for the whole milk.
try 1% or 2 % milk since they have less fat and low cholesterol. It tastes the same as whole milk but more healthier.

I was diagnosed a diabetic in 2000. Skim milk is part of a diabetic's diet. Before that I wouldn't even consider it. I found out it isn't half bad. After drinking it so many years I don't notice a difference.
For your health it is worth it. Talk to your doctor about a calcium supplement for the age you are and find out if he thinks you need one.
The calcium content is the same. However, it has been studied and proven that because milk is so acidic, it takes all of the calcium and then some to return your blood to its normal alkaline state after consuming milk - so the net result is the more milk you drink, the less calcium you have in your body. That is why the countries that have the highest dairy consumption also have the highest osteoporosis rates. People should become more adept at being able to tell facts from advertising ploys. Nearly all information teachers get to teach "health" in school is compliments of the Dairy Council so guess what is taught? Also the FDA long ago gave up its role as a consumer advocate and now protects companies and large agricultural segments. Just as cows get healthy bones from eating grass, people can get plenty of calcium by eating foods such as broccoli which have calcium as well as many other health benefits with fewer calories .

The calcium value is exactly the same, they have successfully been able to extract only fat from the milk instead of pulling out the good stuff you need like calcium. I think the higher fat content the richer it tastes. If you want a rich taste and not as much calories as whole milk, go with 1% fat milk 2% fat milk.
P.S. sick-ovit-all, i believe milk is actually a basic liquid, not acidic. That would be why it curdles when you add vinegar to it. (experience from a science lab)
