Why do products refer to Kcals when we used to just say cals?!

Why do products refer to Kcals when we used to just say cals?


Answers:
If you write Calories with a capital 'C' it means kilo calories, and calories with a small 'c' means the much smaller calorie measurement that is so small it's only useful to scientists

Technically the amount of energy in food is kiloCalories, hence kCal. It's just generally understood that when you say calories in reference to food/diet, you mean kCal.

A KCal is a Kilo Cal, or 1000 Cals
