Drop a Mentos into a 2-liter bottle of diet coke. Simple

Drop the mentos into the diet coke (a 2 liter bottle). These people have photos of their experiment:

get a large plastic glass and fill 1/2 with pop then throw in 3-4 mentos and stand back

drop a mento into a bottle of diet coke. it erupts not explodses.

Put mentos in diet coke.

Flee.

Yes...just drop it in...but be sure to run like hell

Put the mentos in a 2-liter diet coke.I tried it with my kids, and they loved it.

doesn't have to be diet coke....any carbonated drink should do. They have played with this quite a bit on the Dicovery Channel show "Mythbusters"

Simply open up a bottle of Diet Coke and drop in a Mentos and stand back, it really does work and is spews pretty high.

They did this on Myth Busters and they broke down the ingredients in the soda and determined it was one of the synthetic sugars that acts a preservative that reacts with the Mentos. They tried several different types of soda too and found out that diet coke has the most of the particular chemical that reacts to the Mentos and produces the best eruption. They also found out that the white Mentos worked the best, something about the stuff used to color them makes the reaction less spectacular.

Just drop them into a bottle of diet coke.

Wow. That's interesting. Does it have to be Diet?

This solution is much easier (and safer) then the 2L bottle bombs we made in high school using Pool (Muriatic) Acid and Foil in the bottle. HAHA!
