Hi sweetie..,

Cleaning your coffee maker takes away hard water deposits, old oils from previously brewed pots and other impurities that can make your coffee taste bad.

A mixture of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water is the best way to clean a drip coffee maker. Mix a full pot of the vinegar and water mixture, pour it in your water reservoir and turn the coffee maker on.

Once the mixture has run completely through, turn the drip coffee maker off and let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.

Pour the vinegar and water mixture down the drain. If you are cleaning a coffee maker that hasn't been cleaned regularly, repeat this step again with a fresh vinegar and water mixture.

Next, rinse the pot out thoroughly with warm, plain water. Then, fill the water reservoir again with clean water and turn the coffee maker on to start the rinsing process.

To make sure all of the vinegar and water solution is completely gone repeat the rinsing process one more time after letting the pot cool for 15 to 20 minutes.

This is how to clean a coffee maker the right way. Cleaning your drip coffee maker on a monthly basis will make it last longer and keep your coffee tasting the best it can possibly be.

fill with ice squeeze in some lemon pour on some salt then shake away, sounds kinda dumb but it does work

I read that if you add dry rice to your coffee maker and let it sit for a few hours, the rice will soak up the odor and taste of anything else. I haven't tried it though.

run white vinegar thru it then water again. works really well. about a cup of vinegar to a pot of water.
I AM

there is a product called CLR calcium lime and rust it stands for. I cleans kettles to soap scum in the shower.

Vinegar twice, and rinse, 3 times!

use vinegar.then run water through it about 3 times

The Vinegar thing is the usual, but you have to flush it about 4 times (that means 4 blank brew cycles with fresh rinse water), and even then you toss out the first and sometimes the second real pot you brew.

CLR would work for the glass but probably would wreck the inside of the machine.

There used to be a product for percolators called DIP-IT. I haven't thought about it in 25 years, and I don't know if it exists anymore, or works on Drip makers.

But I do have a solution: Switch to a French Press!!!!!!!!!! I refuse to make coffee any other way.

Of course I'm pretty particular about my coffee. Only the finest Fair Trade and Estate Beans. Burr type Grinding only immediately prior to brewing. Marry 190 degree water and grinds. Steep 4 minutes. And Press. Perfection!

Remove and dispose the used coffee filter.
Add vinegar to the water reservoir until 1/4 full. Fill with water until full.

Run the coffee maker.

Turn off the coffee maker, let cool for about 10 minutes.

Run the vinegar and water mixture through the coffee maker again. Let cool for another 10 minutes.

Run plain water through the coffee maker; let cool for another 10 minutes, repeat.

Hand-wash the carafe and filter basket in soapy water.

Good luck!! :)

put a little bit of bleach in some water, not much just a few drops, and pour it in the coffee pot and then do it again but with out the bleach and that will get it clean.
