Can grocery stores resell something that was returned like hot chocolate?!

Question:

Can grocery stores resell something that was returned like hot chocolate?

Answers:
If the package is not opened and not damaged, then yes. If the person opened it then they send it back to the manufacturer to get credit.

i hope not.

Can they? Legally I'm not sure, but if the original packaging hasn't been opened in any way, what's to stop them from just returning the package to their shelves?

No because it violates the health code.

Yes as long as there isnt any damage, it isnt open and it is in date. They can resell it.

Ditto to what Melissa said ... this is why stores insist that all returns be unopened.

I did once return an unopened carton of tapioca pudding to the grocery store and got my refund. I sure hope they didn't just put the product back on the shelf though as it was far past the "best before" date ...

I would think they could as long as the package is not opened.

Yes, if the package isn't opened, and it is still in date.

the company that i work with,if any food product came back after it left the store we get rid of it. you never know if it has been tampered with.
