Why would Tropican lie about it's orange juice?!
Why would Tropican lie about it's orange juice?
I bought a bottle the other morning that said "100 percent juice" on the front label, but when I looked at the ingredients it was "made from concentrate". So I wrote Tropicana via email asking this question and NO REPLY!!!
I paid 1.79 for sugar and water....what a ripoff!!!!!!!!!!!

baloney..when they make concentrate it is the juice they dehydrate ...the concentrate is sold in drums to companies that profit by watering down the juice..and yes I think 1.79 for six ounces is a rip off for concentrate that tastes like crap

It is a marketing strategy, to rip you off. alot of people dont read the labels
Concentrate is concentrated juice. Your juice has been reconstituted with water and some essential oils added (as they are lost during the evaporation process).
No, you paid $1.79 for orange juice that was originally dehydrated (some of the water was taken out of it) to make it easier to transport. Then the water was put back in it to reconstitute it to its original state. "concentrate" doesn't mean sugar and water, it just means that some of the water was taken out of it.
Their packaging is correct. The OJ is made from 100% juice. That juice is then concentrated. What you are looking for on a container is the phrase "not from concentrate".
The whole thing about concentrated juices is that it is 100% real fruit juice. what they do is remove as much of the water as possible, pack it, and add water to it again during production. By concentrating juices you increase the shelf life of the product. For example, Brand names the are 100% real juice no sugar added (not from concentrate) are only found in the refrigerated sections, while other 100% juices made from concentrate can be found in a regular ailse, and only need to be refrigerated after opening.
