When did Coke and Pepsi stop using 16oz glass bottles in 8 packs?!

Question:

When did Coke and Pepsi stop using 16oz glass bottles in 8 packs?

I know you can find places like Mexico that has them and some specialty stores, but when did they switch to plastic bottles and was there anything between the returnable 8 packs and the Plastic bottles? Thanks

Answers:
Coke started using cans in 1960 and switched to aluminum cans in 1967. Plastic bottles came out in 1970. so my guess is they stopped the returnables sometime in the early 70s. There wasn't anything else in between.

it was before my time.

I know what bottles you mean. They stopped in the early/ mid '70s and switched to the plastic bottles, and no there wasnt anything in between. I have some of the glass in a wooden carry case. You can get them from Mexico in the states and I've seen them in markets. The mexico coke has real sugar. (so does passover coke but not to many people know that.)

they returnable bottles went out in the mid to late 80's depending on the bottler. aluminum cans came about in the early 80's, before that they used steel cans, plastic bottles for 2 liters came out in the late 70's and other sizes in the mid 80's.
