Eventually some fertile beans were smuggled out and where brought to the new world colonies or European powers around the Caribbean and eventually south America. Today most of the worlds coffee comes from central and south America

Coffee can be traced at least as early as the 9th century, in the highlands of Ethiopia. From there it spread to Egypt and Yemen, and by the fifteenth century had reached Persia, Egypt, Turkey, and northern Africa.
