A lot of people say that it doesn't, but I bought caffeine free Diet Pepsi and I noticed the taste was different so I think that caffeine does have a taste.

In a crystalline form, caffeine has a slightly metallic taste. In a powdered or rendered down form, the taste is barely noticable. Easily masked by flavors on top of it.
