Is coffee acid or basic?!

Question:

Is coffee acid or basic?

just wanted to know, as i'm supposed to avoid acidic foods/drinks

Answers:
Basic but it has caffeine

it is an acid

Coffee is an acid and many people find it especially irritating, so if you have stomach problems, I'd advise cutting it out of your life. Sorry!

ACID!

It's acidic.

hmmm... good question. i believe it's acidic. specially since, and i quote: "acidity is typically a highly valued quality...in Central American and some East African coffees." so, if you're avoiding acidic food and drink, avoid coffee, and softdrinks, too. not only are softdrinks acidic to the stomach, but some of them have a type of acid which is also bad for the teeth.

in coffee, i am not sure if the acidity is due to the caffeine content. if it is, then you could look into decaffeinated coffee. there's also decaffeinated tea. "Stash" is a good brand (of decaf tea). it's mostly herbs and flavours. no actual tea leaves. ..again, i am not sure if acidity is related to caffeine content, so better ask your doctor first, on whether drinking decaf will help you or not. ;)
