Why do english people like tea?!

Question:

Why do english people like tea?

they have tea time.

... why?

Answers:
For the same reasons Americans drink coffee. In Britain it is not uncommon to give babies hot tea in their baby bottles. I was raised on it, and although I now live in the states, I gave my daughter tea in her baby bottle. We enjoy tea several times a day. Its a lovely ritual. I would not give two cents for a tea bag-we use the loose tea and have lovely little shaped strainers for it. Try it sometime, In 2004 we were wiped out by hurricane Charley-despite the fact that we had no roof, no power, no windows, and a heavily flooded house, we still managed to make tea in a fondue pot, in fact is was our priority to have tea before we even contemplated the clean up. I guess it restores you (well at least me)

why americans like coke and burgers???

It's a social thing.

tradition. read this article:

It's TRADITIONAL ... the English drank 'tea' for a long time before 'coffee' was discovered as a 'beverage' ... and 'tea time' is not ALL the English, but is traditional for 'working class' people, probably so they would have the energy to get through their 'extra long working days' ... so the 'cream teas' you can find in some 'shoppes' are sort of 'fancied up' as they were for those who were 'working class' but could also could afford to go out occasionally ... and THANK GOD, because it's great 'fun' for those of us who don't 'drink tea' traditionally to be able to 'do something different' sometimes.

tea time is nothing to do with the stuff you drink.
its a time of day when you eat a meal.
Breakfast, dinner, teatime.
teatime is the evening or afternoon meal.
some people call teatime supper time.
it depends what region of the uk you live in and what social class you belong to.

becuase its relaxing if u r having a stressful day, it has a lot of anti-oxidents i think, its good for ur soul, its good for you, tastes good, tea time is a time of unity and to get back on track after a healthy snack

because they brought it over from china and they think it is fancy so they drink it

English people drink tea like us Americans drink coffee, no differ. They also know how to relax better then us and that's why they have a so called tea time like our coffee break but they are more in the ritual of doing this

Tradition! It probably makes for a more productive day, I think it might take the place of a nap that some other cultures encourage.
