Why does orange juice taste so bad after having just brushed your teeth?!

Question:

Why does orange juice taste so bad after having just brushed your teeth?

There's no taste quite as bad as orange juice in a freshly brushed mouth. What causes this phenomenon?

Answers:
There was a question like this in our Sunday paper. I didn't really read to heavily into the answer but it had smething to do with a certain acid that is in toothpaste. When that interacts with the acid from the juice it gives a really bad combination. Taste only though...it doesn't hurt your gums or teeth.

When you brush your teeth, you still have some toothpaste residue in your teeth. With that and orange juice together, it does give you an unpleasant taste!!!

the left over flavor of toothepaste you dont taste with OJ mixing ewwww

Because when you brush your teeth the toothpaste is still on there a little bit is anyway. So when you drink the orange with the citus the limestone(toothpaste)comes off

A mint, OJ and fluoride cocktail has to be the most vile drink that I can think of. They just don`t mix! Try rinsing a time or two more to try and get rid of the toothpaste taste

i hate that taste!

Because of the citrus acid in the oranges its not bad for you but its there, and the residue after wards does not mix well with the minty toothpaste, and there you have it.

Well, most toothpastes are mint flavored and orange juice is citrus. That kind of citrus with mint combined makes a powerful horrible flavor in your mouth.
