Is it okey to eat expired food?!

Question:

Is it okey to eat expired food?

What happen if i eat expired foods?

Answers:
You could get food poisoning. They have an expiration date for a reason.

depends on what it is. certain things like milk, eggs, sour cream.. that type of stuff i would be wary of. other things like cake or cereal might last longer.

What do you think they sell at the Dollar Stores?? Check it out!

DEPENDS ON THE FOOD. IT IS PROBABLY OK TO EAT SOMETHING LIKE EXPIRED CHIPS OR PRETZELS OR PEANUTS, BUT I WOULDN'T TAKE A CHANCE ON SOMETHING LIKE EXPIRED YOGURT, COTTAGE CHEESE OR LUNCH MEAT.

Hi,

Please never eat expired food. If you eat expired food you will have infection. Eat fresh food

Enjoy Life

Dr.Mojo

yeah! BUT ONLY IF IT IS A DRIED FOOD LIKE CASHEWS ,SPICES ETC

Not unless you like that feeling of pain the next day

Only if you're betting with friend or too high to read the label.

Most foods/drinks are still alright after the expiration date for a couple of days at least. Dairy products and meats/poultry/fish should not be eaten/drank after the expiration date, but everything else should be OK.

Food like rice and dried pasta will go stale but wont hurt you, especially if cooked correctly.

You are supposed to throw expired foods away in general to avoid food poisoning. But if you insist on eating it, smell it first to see if there is any bad smell, then cook it through well. But remember you only live once.

The expiration date is the last date that they can sell the food. So I would think that you would have several days to consume the food before problems would occur. If nothing else, I would smell and taste a small amount before I consumed the whole thing

you will be in the hospital

it depends what kind of food it is. my family has a small food shop and we have been eating out of date food for as long as i can remember. what did people used to do before they had date codes? use their common sense. milk smells when it goes off, yogurts have a dome of air formed in the foil and other little signs like that. the only things I'm really cautious of is chicken and some fish.

No, once food is pass their expired date you should throw them away as you could get food poisoning and in some fatal cases you could die. Okay that is extreme but it will depend on the type of food that you eat

Depending on the food yes. Canned and shelf goods tend to go stale after about 5 days, but it won't hurt you to eat something stale.
Now for refrigerator goods. Milk no longer than 3 days passed expiration date. Yogurt, just throw away. It's a touchy thing to date and goes bad rather quickly.
Most meat is OK for about 2 days. Beef discolors when it goes bad, and smells besides. Pork is a resilient meat and easily stands 2 days. Chicken on the other hand I would get rid of after 1 day.
Bread doesn't really need an expiration date. It will last longer if you refrigerate it than if it sits on the counter. It's pretty easy to tell when bread has spoiled. Note the green fuzz (commonly called MOLD) on the slice of bread you left out for high school biology project.
Well I think that about covers it.
Kudos! ~out
