MAGIC

Did you forget you had 3 cups left from previous morning?? Idk sounds strange, go to dunkin donuts, i can't make coffee to save my life. BTW good morning

The difference in size of a cup you are using compared to the measure on the coffee maker.
Try pouring three cups of water from the one you drink from into the coffee maker and see what it measures.

If you are using the line on the pot to measure to 3 cups and 6 comes out, then your cup is smaller than what the manufacturers used to measure their cup lines.Get a mug and you'll only be able to get 2 cups out.Happy Drinking....

You're pouring a voulume of water equal to "3 cups" into the coffee maker. 1 cup equals 8 fluid ounces. So, you are pouring 24 fluid ounces of water into the coffee maker.

What comes out as coffee is about 24 fluid ounces as well - you lose a little liquid as steam and what's left behind in the coffee grounds - but, you're getting what the coffee maker company calls "6 cups of coffee". For some reason, the coffee company decided that "a cup of coffee" should be 1/2 a cup of liquid, i.e. 4 fluid ounces.

So, don't ask me who decided a cup of coffee should be 4 oz., but there it is.
