Answers:
That's a pretty competitive racket. I bet you could find the statistics and other info at Dunn and Bradstreet.
The more competitive the industry, the more important it is to
understand your market. You might consider opening up a niche in the soda business; something that has yet to be done. Most successful businesses monopolize a certain area. Then 20 years down the road, one of the big companies buys you out to get you out of the way. Either that or they develop a similar product and drive you out of business.

In Brief
Are you starting your own business and need some advice? Do you need a Marketing Plan but don't know where to start? How can you get your small company to compete on the web? The answers to these questions and many more can be found by using UConn's Small Business Institute (SBI).

The SBI provides free, limited management consulting on all types of business problems to small entrepreneurial businesses and startup ventures throughout the State of Connecticut. Consultants are undergraduate business students enrolled in a course titled Small Business Consulting. This course is generally offered one semester each year. Some of this year's projects included helping a small gym set up a computer system to track members and inventory and a employee morale survey for a mid-sized services firm.

One of the most active institutes of its kind in the country, the SBI has solved a wide spectrum of business problems at close to one thousand Connecticut businesses since its inception.
