What steps do i need to take to make a new beverage?
i have an idea for a new beverage & have made it at home, what do i need to do to get it legal? does it have to be patented? fda approved? get a barcode? where do i start?
Answers:
You do need to get the formula patented (or at least have a patent pending). If you have any medical claims on your beverage (ie. it cures the common cold) you need FDA approval to validate your claim. If you plan to bottle it at home you need to have a health inspector inspect your property and get your permit to prepare food there. If not you need to find a bottler in your area. I would start with a patent application that way you can make sure no one steals your idea and that it hasn't been done already. You sound excited!! Good luck! I hope this helps.
