Is it safe to eat rust?!

Question:

Is it safe to eat rust?

I have this thermos that i've been using for almost a year now with a french press attachment and I've been mainly using it for tea. Just recently I've noticed a slight orange rusty color on the french press filter and around the inside of the thermos. I don't know if it sould be the tea stains or rust. If it is rust, is it still safe to drink from the thermos or should i just throw it out? Please list any sources.

Answers:
Rust comes from iron--your iron intake will be satisfied, but the taste will not be great. Stop using it.

no it is not safe to eat rust..it will send metal traces into your liver and make you sick

throw out that thermos and get a new one because rust is detrimental to your health

its definitely not.... change your thermos immediately.

No, get rid of the thermos now. Rust is bad. If it is coffee, I would just buy it as you need it, rather than lug a thermos around, plus you have to wash it out every day.
