Drinking water?!

Question:

Drinking water?

Can I drink the water out of the hot water tap of my kitchen sink?

Answers:
Not a good idea because generally hot water has been sitting in the tank for some time and this gives nasty things a chance to breed because the water is not, and never has been boiled in order to destroy these bugs.

If you want warm water to drink, I would suggest boiling the kettle and when cool enough put it into a bottle or jug.

I do this, and it saves buying these specially bottled water and does taste different after boiling.

If you want it warm, boil it and then add some cold to bring it to the temperature you require.

My mother told me!

Hot water has been kept in a tank in the attic normally so isnt deemed suitable for drinking because its been in the tank some old tanks probably have slime inside or other things lurking in them .

not recommended without boiling it first.

I'm sure this question also applies to the hot water tap in the kitchen:

10.Q-"Should I drink water from the taps in my bathroom?"
A- You should drink water from the cold bathroom tap only if the water comes directly from the supply main. Otherwise, you should always use water from the cold water tap in the kitchen. The cold water taps in the bathroom may be supplied from a storage tank in the loft so the quality may not be as good as that from the kitchen tap, which comes directly from the mains. Do not drink water from hot water taps as it may contain high levels of copper.

No...your only allowed to drink it oout of the cold tap. I think hot water is stored in the tank for a while and is therefore a bit dodgy. I advise boiling your cold water if you want to drink it hot, even if your boiling the water from your hot tap its still dodgy!

You're not supposed to because the hot water dissolves 'metal' (I honestly can't remember what!) and carries them up the pipe into your glass. Also the warm water in your hot water tank, pipes and all the associated plumbing is a haven for bacteria, whereas the same bacteria are less likely to flourish in cool water.

yuk i woudnt with out boiling it buts up to you, mind you look where these third worlds drink it from.

You can drink water from wherever you like!

yeah you can

No, you shouldn't drink water from this tap as it comes from the tank in the loft. If you have a combi boiler though, then that is safe as it comes from the cold water supply as heats it as you need it.

Hope that helps.

You can do anything you like.

Not advisable as the hot water is usually stored in a tank for some days to heat it and it really should be boiled first. Whereas the cold water comes straight off the mains and is not stored first. Best of all buy bottled water

Yes you can drink the hot water from your kitchen tap as this is water that i jointly supplied to you for doing dished but also drinking water whereas bathroom tap water comes from a fifferent mains supply and is not drinking water.....duno in other words

Yesif you want to....squeeze lemon juice into it first, its really good for IBS and other stomach problems.

i would`nt myself because the water has been lying in the tank for goodness know` how long yuck

Not advisable.
Hot water has usually been stored in a tank in the loft, then stored again in the hot water tank. So a bit on the stale side, I think, and you don't know what has been living and breeding in it on the way to your sink.

Bottled water whether hot or cold, will always be better as less additives etc
