How much profit must coffee shops make?!

Question:

How much profit must coffee shops make?

like costa,starbucks..
when they charge for a cup of coffee what you could buy a jar of coffee for.

Answers:
Exactly, it costs pennies and they make bucks...so I must be a dummy for paying that kind of fee...if it were gas, that'd be like $40.oo gallon.

They make plenty of profit. Just leave it at that. The first cup of coffee sold, buys the pot, do the math. 50 cups x 100% profit = Brilliant business plan.

I heard that on the radio that the farmers sell the coffee for $1.60 per pound and in starbucks you cup of coffee costs about $160 per pound of the raw coffee.

I'm sure they make a hefty profit, however they offer a lot of other stuff too, and they have hoards of ingredients on hand at all times, plus staff, advertising, taxes. Most businesses don't make as much as you think they do...everything costs money. Learned this by owning my own business. Everyone thinks you make a hefty profit on everything you sell, however with all the other costs of business included you're lucky to come out with anything.
