Does anyone know how to make homemade chocolate frosting?!

Question:

Does anyone know how to make homemade chocolate frosting?

Answers:
An easy chocolate frosting recipe in old homemade style.

1 square of chocolate,
a pinch of salt,
5 tablespoonfuls of boiling water,
1 teaspoonful of vanilla,
about three cups of sifted confectioners' sugar.
Melt chocolate in bowl over tea-kettle, add water, salt and vanilla, and when smooth add the sugar, and heat until very glossy.

Make the chocolate frosting stiff enough to spread without using a wet knife.

It will keep indefinitely.

Recipe 2
The whites of four eggs, three cups of powdered sugar and nearly a cup of grated chocolate. Beat the whites a very little, they must not become white, stir in the chocolate, then put in the sugar gradually, beating to mix it well.

yes.

i dont know the exact recipie, but you need to mix water, powdered sugar, and chocolate togther in a double boiler. And if you dont know what that is, you put a pot of water on teh stove so it boils, then you put another pot on top of that, so the steam melts the stuff in the second pot. Hope this helps :)

1 c. sugar
1 sq. chocolate
3/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. milk
1/4 c. Crisco

Mix all ingredients and boil for 1 minute remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla mix and beat until cool.

This one should work well (it's close to what I do for white frosting, and it says how much chocolate to use): http://www.recipegoldmine.com/cakefrost/...

There are others there, too.

Ya, you use icing sugar, cocoa, butter and milk. Whip it all up and you have chocolate frosting. I never measure as I go by taste. Lots of cocoa and icing sugar with more butter than milk.....but, add this part slowly until it is creamy and decadent!! Mmm!

homemade chocolate frosting

Ingredients
6 Tablespoons of butter or margarine (softened)
1/2 Cups of powdered cocoa
2-2/3 Cups of powdered sugar
1-1/4 cups of egg yolks
1/3 Cups of whole milk
1 Teaspoon of vanilla

Steps
Using an electric mixer (or by hand), beat butter at medium speed until it is fluffy.
Add cocoa and sugar alternately with milk and egg yolks
Beat until the mixture is spreading consistency
Add vanilla and blend well.

icing sugar, cocoa powder and a few spoons of melted chocolate and tiny drops of water if you need to loosen it - you don't need much chocolate otherwise it will go runny and you'll end up using a mountain of sugar to get it right

1/3 Cup Softened Butter (Margarine can be used also but better with the real thing!)
3 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla
1/2 Cup Baking Cocoa
About 2 Tablespoons Milk

(If you prefer white frosting instead of chocolate then don't add the baking cocoa)

Mix the butter and sugar. Add the vanilla and milk. Mix it until the frosting is smooth or the right consistency to frost with. If too think you can add a couple of DROPS of milk at a time. But be careful...too much will make it too thin.

1 can of sweetened condensed milk
2 squares of bittersweet chocolate
Empty can of milk into a 2 quart non stick pan on low-medium heat
Put 2 squares of chocolate into the milk and let it melt
It will start slightly bubbling around the edges remove from heat and let it cool
It is super gooey but it is so good!
Hint....This is really good on a 3 layer (yellow or butter) cake with peanut butter icing on the top and bottom (make the PB icing the same way...omit the chocolate of course and add in 2 tbsp of PB) YUM-O!!!!!
WARNING: THIS CAKE IS ADDICTIVE AND VERY MESSY!!!!

6 tablespoons butter, softened
2 2/3 cups confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup half-and-half cream (can use unwhipped whipping cream in place of half and half)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, for light flavor or 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, for medium flavor or 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, for a dark rich flavor

Cream the butter in a small bowl.
Blend in the cocoa powder (the amount desired for a light, medium or dark flavor), vanilla, confectioners sugar, alternately with the cream.
Beat with an electric mixer, until the desired texture is achieved.
Note: because of the additional cocoa more cream may have to be needed to reach desired consistancy

this is the recipie i use at home.. its AMAZINGLY GOOD.. i highly suggest copying it and using it in the future. if you want u can omit the half and half.. still turns out amazing. frosting is difficult to make well.. but this was extremely easy

directions are on the back of Hershy's cocoa powder....choc. fudge frosting

Any ordinary recipe book has a recipe for homemade chololate frosting. My mother said that if you can read, you can cook. All you need is a good recipe book, and she was a good cook. I have found that this applies to everything I have tried except pie crusts and bread. Someone needed to show me how to roll out the crust without having it wrap around the rolling pin and how to knead the bread.
Ofcourse, they have such good chocolate frosting products in the stores these days that most people don't bother to start from scratch, but all you need is the recipe, the ingredients and a beater.

There is a recipe on the back of the Hershey's Cocoa package that is HEAVENLY - my mom and grandmother have sworn by it for years.

Tablespoon of butter, tablespoon of hot water (to melt the butter) tablespoon of cocoa (or more if you like it chocolatier) and icing sugar to mix. Always make more than you need so you can lick the bowl clean afterwards!!!

Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Mix together. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Add vanilla. Cool partially, then beat.

This recipe for 1 Minute Chocolate Frosting serves/makes 1.5 cups

This is so easy!
Melt a half a stick of butter, slowly over low heat
Add a couple tbs. cocoa, some powdered sugar, like 2 cups , a tsp of vanilla and some milk, just enough to make it the thickness and spreadability you want.
Stir as it all blends together and you can put it on your cake while it is warm and it will set. And it tastes very good.

Quick and Easy Chocolate Chip Frosting

1/3 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 cup chocolate chips

Boil milk, butter and sugar for 1 minute. Add chocolate chips, stir until desired consistency. This can be doubled easily if you need more frosting.
