They have water-tight butts.

Light, hollow bones, very oily feathers and a bottom like a boat.

they float from their fur i think

So they don't drown.

the "down" feathers are tightly close together to sheild out water.. therefore they float .. they also ( feathers ) keep you warm in winter.. in a down comforter same reason..

Because they're made of wood..like witches.

Why is this question posted under "non-alcoholic drinks?"

Anyway....ducks float because they are less dense than water.(duh?)

For one, nearly all birds have hollow, air filled bones. Next time you have turkey or fried chicken, save one of the drumsticks and cut through it with a hacksaw; you see.........hollow! This makes them very light, but still strong enough to handle the strains of flying.

A duck's feathers are nearly waterproof, and can hold air to help buoy them up. They also have, besides their lungs, air filled sacs that act as bellows to help improve the efficiency of their breathing. Because of the rapid metabolism required for flying, birds need more efficient lungs, and a larger chest cavity than most mammals. This also helps them float.

what does this question have to do with this catergory? this doesnt have anything to do with non alcoholic drinks.

Ducks float because the feathers have a oily water repellent base on them.
