Are there too many coffee shops?!

Question:

Are there too many coffee shops?

Coffee shops are opening at a rate of knots in this nation of tea drinkers. Is it too much, or are you thirsty for more?

Answers:
Thirsty for more actually! It's convenient having one round the corner here and there. They employ lots of people and help farmers as well. Plus most coffee shops sell tea, as well as other bevvies and snacks. Inexpensive and an alternative to sitting in the pub.

its too much i hate starbucks

Speaking as a University student, there are NEVER too many coffee shops!

It keeps their products fresh. A little competition never hurt anyone.

There aren't enough in so cal. But in Alaska, there are plenty.

i dont drink coffee, but yeah there are a lot. its convenient for ppl who r addicted or like it.

I agree! There are over 12 coffee shops in my town, and the population is only 68,000. I live in Southern Ontario Canada, and we have a coffee/donut store called Tim Hortons and they are all over the place. They compete with Starbucks here. We have 4 Starbucks and the rest are Tim Hortons. I think even 12 is alot of coffee shops for a small town like the one I live in, but it's like one of those towns on the highway that people always stop at, so that's probably why.

When I'm in the US, I like to go to Dunkin Donuts. I wish we had them in Canada :-( I heard they might be expanding here soon, so I am excited! So to be honest ... I am thirsty for more!

Too much coffe shops. I don't like coffe... >.<

I personally don't drink alcohol, so coffee shops are my bars. And where I live there are still way more bars than coffee shops. I say 'bring 'em on', especially the family-owned non-chain shops.

yes and i like it because i love coffe so much i drink it every morning.you should try it really

It depends. I find it convenient that they are there. On the other hand a national rating system (like with hotels) would be handy so you dont pay $3.00 for something that tastes like dirt. That would convert your nation of tea drinkers.

there can never be enough coffee houses...each one delivers a different twist on coffee....being an extensive coffee drinker, I'm always looking for something different.

Compared to Italy... No

Come walk down any street in Italy and you will smell coffee... and cigarettes.

But with the Italians, a cappuccino does not cost $3-5 bucks.... a euro will get you what you want at most coffee bars.

Starbucks is definitely a racket.

Here in CA any coffee shop you come by is packed. So, no there are not to many.

yes way to many

The more Coffee Shops - the better. They are a sign of Civilization.

Yes, I've often asked myself what happened to all ye olde tea shoppes??

No, there's not enough. I hate tea.

There needs to be more in my town! We have a Starbucks, and like two local ones. I think that more emphasis should be put on local places that produce high-quality coffee drinks and have a nice relaxing atmosphere that welcomes all. I think they should encourage having local bands and even get involved with the community in some way. Coffee is a way to connect for a lot of people (you know, "Let's go have a cup of coffee") and I think Starbucks does an injustice to this type of ideal with their overpriced powder-based drinks and superiority complex.

My husband and I would love to open a coffee shop of our own someday in our town where people can come enjoy good, quality coffee and just have a place to relax, study, listen to good music, have good conversation, etc. : )
