Is drinking too much iced tea bad for you?!

Question:

Is drinking too much iced tea bad for you?

Answers:
Usually, too much of anything is bad for you. If the iced tea is sweetened with sugar, you'll be taking in too many calories and carbohydrates. Also, the caffeine in the tea is a diuretic which may lead to dehydration and may inhibit your bodies absorption of certain nutrients like potassium.

However, tea does have redeeming benefits in the form of antioxidants and the caffeine is a stimulant which can make you feel alert and increase your body's metabolism.

no. drink all you want to.

In certain people, drinking alot of tea can cause kidney stones. There's a certain chemical in it linked to the formation of stones.

":Kidney stones occur in approximately 12% of the U.S. population. The incidence is rising in many industrialized nations. Kidney stones are caused by infection, metabolic disturbance, hormonal imbalance, poor fluid intake, immobilization, or lesions or obstructions in the bladder or kidney that slow urine flow.

Kidney stones can be made of uric acid, cystine, xanthine, magnesium phosphate, magnesium carbonate calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, or calcium oxalate. Approximately 85%-95% of kidney stones contain calcium in some form and 70-80% are made of calcium oxalate.

Since calcium is found in so many stones, restricting calcium intake has been commonly recommended. But recent studies have begun to question whether the general restriction of calcium in stone formers is warranted.

There are four reasons routine restriction of calcium has not been promoted:

1. Not all kidney stones are made of calcium and not all sufferers have high calcium levels in their urine;

2. Even when calcium levels are high in urine, restricting calcium in the diet does not always lower it;

3. Studies have shown that low levels of dietary calcium actually increase urinary levels of oxalate and other common components of kidney stones;

4. Low serum calcium levels stimulate loss of calcium from bone which may increase risk for osteoporosis.

Reserch shows that higher urinary oxalate levels increase risk for kidney stones more than higher levels of urinary calcium. Only eight foods definitely raise urinary oxalate values: spinach, tea, nuts including peanuts, chocolate, beets (the leaves and roots), rhubarb, strawberries and wheat bran."

Come on people, don't be stupid. It's a proven medical fact that oxalate raises your risk for stones and tea contains a high amount of it.

too much of anything is bad for you
recently a woman died from too much water

It depends on two things. First if it has caffeine then too much will not let you sleep and when you cut back you might get headaches. Second if it has sugar then too much will be like everything else with sugar and if it has something different, like artificial sweeteners, then those are not too good either.

Nope. But there some article stated that if you drink too much iced tea for a long period of time like 20 years you might get heart problems.

If you are drinking water also, there is no problem. Tea is a diuretic, meaning it strips your body of water. That water will need to be replaced. Otherwise you could be damaging your kidneys.

Too much tea = too much pee!

Seriously, as with everything, do in moderation. I used to drink a lot of iced tea (more than I do now), and it never had any ill effects on me (save for needing to know where the nearest restroom was...).

Yes it's bad, it's got some caffeine in it, and anything that ends ine is addictive and causes bad things, like nicotine, caffeine, cocaine, heroine, all these are drugs, some are the bad ones, some are coffee, some are cigarette, but all of them are addictive, and have a second reaction.

It is depanding on what kind of iced tea you are drinking. It can comes with fruits tea, black tea, flavoured tea, herbal tea or etc. . But basically it won't bad for health much with moderation mate.

well, I stopped drinking diet colas since they are bad for us, and tap water is not good.

So, now I'm drinking unsweetened ice tea.
What do you mean by "too much"? Just stop before "too much"

No it isn't. the only thing too much iced tea does is stain your teeth.

just as bad as any juice

Tea is very hard on your kidneys. Decaffeinated is equally as bad

Not that I know of . But I have also heard from various sources it can be hard on the kidneys.

drink more water

Could You be just a little bit more precise with the details?
