Do energy drinks (i.e. Red Bull) help you recover from being sick?!

Question:

Do energy drinks (i.e. Red Bull) help you recover from being sick?

I've been sick the past few days and decided to drink a Red Bull about an hour ago. I'm curious if anyone has an insight into whether or not such energy drinks would help you recover from being sick.

Answers:
You'd have to ask youself if coffee would help you when you're sick (it wouldn't). Honestly, even thought there are many ingrdients listed in these energy drinks, the primary ingredient is caffiene. In fact Red Bull has so much caffiene, that it can actually dehydrate you. Not too serious if you're not sick, but dehydration can be a problem if you are. My advice would be to drink plenty of fluids, take some Vitamin C, and get plenty of rest. Old advice that's still around because it works

No they dont they Only give you instant energy to perform your day to day acitvities

No! actually they can make you feel worse on the way down.

Sorry, but energy drinks do not exactly help you recover when you are sick. Energy drinks may temporary help ease the fatigue though and give you a temporary feeling of strength. Essentially an energy drink is made out of sugar, water and caffeine. These ingredients are the key substances which allows the person who drinks to feel more active. The sugar provides the energy while the caffeine is a stimulant which acts on the brain, giving the brain increased alertness. Some energy drinks would also contain some vitamins which manufacturers claim to help the body.

Unfortunately, energy drinks do not help cure sickness especially if it is caused by an infection like a flu. Energy drinks do not have substances that kill bacteria or viruses, they have no therapeutic effects at all. In fact, in most cases, people will feel even more tired after drinking an energy drink as the body was over worked.

Drinking lots of water and a bit of chicken soup may be more helpful than an energy drink.

I suggest that you should see a doctor if the sickness does not go away really soon.

Not really. I like the stuff they sell at the drugstore called "Airborne". It was developed by a school teacher to build up her immune system - it has all kinds of herbs and electrolytes and actually tastes good. The pink grapefruit tastes like the soda Squirt. I was hospitalized last year (very sick) and when I came out, my immune system was so shot that I caught everything out there. The Pharmacist recommended this stuff - it really works.

Not as I know, but you might want to try Fuze Orange Blossom White Tea. It helps me alot if I have flue or cold. Drink 6-10 bottles a day for 1-3 days, and the cold is over.

I am sorry to say that they don't. They may help you feel better for a while, but they will not help you recover. A step closer might be drinks like Gator-Aide which have some electrolytes, etc. But probably the best drink would be blended juice drinks. Your body requires vitamins, minerals, protein and amino-acids to repair the damage. Also, a lot of the repair happens when you sleep. Oddly enough, some of the proteins in Chicken Soup may help. I guess those old wives' tales were true after all.

It depends on your illness. What illness have you got? If it is diarrhoea, it may help because of the high sugar content. Drinking tea with honey and/or sugar/glucose is hepful in cases of diarrhoea. Please let use know how you get on. Get well soon!

Red Bull doesnt help you recover from being sick. It only gives you extra energy and when you feel weak and tired, it does help to boost up your energy. I usually drink it up when I feel sort of tired.

Most energy drinks have a high amount of B vitamins which can help you body recover a little quicker. But with so much sugar and caffeine, I don't think they help in the long run.

Energy drinks are made to help you recover from being sick. They're mostly full of caffeine to make you wake up and have energy for a short burst of time. Red Bull has some vitamins in it but I doubt they help your immune system to fight a cold. Some energy drinks may contain a small amount of Ephiderine (which is dangerous).
