Answers:
I'd say they are available in California:

Description of the níspero:

- Family: Rosaceous (Rosaceae).

- Origin: although original from the Southeast of China, the níspero arrived at Europe coming from Japan in century XVIII like ornamental tree.

- Species: Japonica Eryobotria (Thunb.) Lindl. (níspero Japanese).

- Etimología: in Greek, eriobotrya means "fleecy cluster", and the japonica adjective makes reference to its Asian origin. Although its origin is Chinese receive the name of the country that first took advantage of them that it was Japan.

- It carries: very high tree (6-9 m), cleared glass, very short trunk that ramifica to very low height, with heavy and woolly small branches.

- Leaves: tree perennifolio, with coriáceas, very long and great leaves, lanceoladas, subseated and extremely pilosas (although the hair one falls), with sawed margin, which damages very frequently to the fruits, mainly in windy zones, taking place what it is known as "tarameado" (the surface of the fruit is damaged that heal in brown color, depreciating to the fruit commercially).

- Flowers: white and with intense scent to heliótropo.

They are grouped in panículas in number very elevated, although an important natural aclareo takes place and they do not materialize all.

The flowering takes place at the end of autumn or in winter.

- Polinización: autocompatible species, but by means of crossed polinización is increased to the fertilization and the number of seeds by fruit, and with it the size. It is good melífera plant.

- Fruit: pomo with variable number of seeds (2-4) of great size that approximately occupy half of the diameter of the fruit, and conserves the chalice surrounding a apical depression as a navel.

Varieties of nísperos:

Two groups can consider themselves of you will cultivate: Japanese (the smaller number of seeds, earlier maturation, clearer coloration delos fruits, as much of the skin as of the pulp) and Chinese (characteristic opposed). They come from: Noteamérica, North Africa, India and Lebanon.

The spread varieties more in Japan, CALIFORNIA and Algeria are: Advance, Chapagne, Indostac, Premier, Early Network, Tanaka and Thales.

The spread varieties more in Spain are Tanaka and Algerie.

First it is of delayed maturation that more is exposed to the sunstroke and presents/displays fruits of good caliber and extraordinary flavor.

Cultivating Algerie constitutes 95% of the production of Alicante, also being cultivated in Almeria by its greater precocidad.

Nevertheless, the fruits are of so large minor and worse flavor, although the productivity is very good.

Therefore, one is fulfilled generally that to greater precocidad, minor is the caliber and worse they are the color and the flavor, since the fruit takes less time in getting fat and maturing.

Also are entering two varieties (Magdall and Golden Nuget) which they are worse as far as flavor, but precocious, and are being cultivated in the zone of Malaga and Granada.

Nisperos are also known as loquats and they're grown in California and are sold in most Chinese supermarkets and certain grocery stores.
