no doubt about it.....COKE.

you know, CCOOKKKEE

Tons of research has been done on this. Funny thing is that in "taste tests" very few people, almost none, can actually tell you the difference.

The biggest difference is the association made between the packaging and advertsing in your mind.

"New Coke" was a big failure because they matched Pepsi exactly- in reality, the difference was possibly not even real. People associate Coke with a long American tradition. Pepsi touted itself as the drink of a "new" "hip" "young" generation and went after the African-American segment of the market by using Micheal Jackson as its spokesperson. African Americans were all about this "new generation" stuff because understandably they were more comfortable looking toward a bright future and less inclined to celebrate the "past" (which for them is like the dark ages, it includes all sorts of negative images like slavery, lynchings, and firehoses knocking down segregation protestors that contradict the warm and fuzzy Norman Rockwell images, roaring twenties nostalgia, and 60s flower power). For African-Americans, Coca Coca nostalgia tastes bitter.

In reality, I would challenge you to have someone pour both into dixie cups, arrange them in a pattern which they can record on paper, then invite you to into the room. I guarantee that they taste the same for the most part. You won't be able to tell the difference because even professional testers in labs can't.

pepsi
