When making a cuppa tea do you add milk of water first.?!

Question:

When making a cuppa tea do you add milk of water first.?

I always add the milk first and my friends say this is wrong. What do you do?

Answers:
It depends on how you are making it. If making it in a teapot then I generally add milk to the cup first. If I am making it in the cup, then i always add the water first. Otherwise the tea doesn't stew properly and you end up with a really weak tea.

Water first...it makes the tea infuse better. :)

Tea with milk!!! Ha Ha.

Milk first...teensy bit though, i like strong tea!

oh dear you realy dont know do you

i add the milk first, then i can make my tea to the strengh that i prefer!!!!!!!

milk first makes a much tastier cuppa!!!!!!!!!!

Water goes in first everytime.

water first

water 1st

wata

well if the tea bag is in the cuo then the water first, n if its been brewing in a tea pot then i put the milk in the cup and then pore the tea, it doesnt really matter which way round is goes in, a cuppa is a cuppa

Milk first. It prevents the china from cracking. Also mixes better.

Water then milk

water. or as we east coasters would say, "wooder".

I always add the water first. but i think its just personal preference

As long as the tea is made in a teapot put the milk and sugar in first. The taste is better than if put in after pouring. In first scalds the milk which gives it the superior taste.
To get some idea think of this, you can put whisky into milk but you can't add milk to whisky, same effect.

From pot with leaf tea milk first, from Tea bag milk last.

It used to be (in the very old days) milk first as the teacups were so delicate they would crack if you put boiling tea in it first.

I prefer milk first as it seems to mix together better.

in Ireland if a woman didnt want to have children with red hair she always put the milk into the cup before pouring the tea in(an old wives tale) but you can do it either way.

Hi!

I always put the milk in last, the t' bag brews loads better when it's just hot water, then you can add the milk so you get thre right strength ; )

when making 2 with tea-bags, i remove the spent bag then add the milk, last.
but when using a tea-pot, made with tea-leaves, i add milk 2 the cup & then i pour.
don't know why exactly but the tea tastes foul if the milk & water are in with the tea-bag.
i wouldn't know personally.
i don't like tea.
more of a coffee person.

It's definitely teabag then BOILING water...not just off the boil! then milk...if you have milk. I have black tea with 2 sugars....yum!

you warm the tea pot then add a teaspoon full of tea for each person and one for the pot
Let it stand few 2 mins then pour.
add milk to taste
then suger if needed

your friends ate right first you are supposed "steep" the tea leaves or bag in hot water to give off the flavor of the tea then add milk or cream, sugar, honey and all that other good stuff to it

I believe when you had loose tea leaves you infused the tea in the teapot put milk and sugar in your cup then pour the tea, it is said that if when adding the milk last it seemingly caused the tea leaves to float up in your tea,but now you are in the tea bag era please yourself. But personally I prefer my tea black or sometimes with a slice of lemon.

i dont like milk in my tea

The correct way is to pour the boiling water in first that way the sugar will disolve , then the milk,
same as coffee if you put the milk in first the coffee will clump up like milo and it floats to the top,
_______________
One of my mates always does the milk because thats how she likes it,,
(saves time to, if you do the milk first then put the milk away while the kettle is boiling, )
Make it how ever you want as long as it tastes good.

If I'm making it in a pot, for 2 or more people, then I add a little milk to each cup before pouring the tea.
If I'm just making it for me, I put the teabag in a mug, add the boiling water, stir it round a bit, remove the teabag, then add the milk.

I am surprised the amount of people who have no idea .
warm your vessel first with boiling water , tea cup , pot ,whatever , pour water out , add tea bag ,pour pre boiled water back in let it sit with bag in to brew to your preferd strength , remove bag add milk .
I do not have milk in my tea

IF you have a teapot (or even a second mug will do in a pinch) and IF you like the taste of heated milk, as some do, then you brew the tea in the pot and put the milk into your cup before the tea.

If you don't have a pot or if you don't like the taste of heated milk or if you just don't care, then brew the tea in your cup and add the milk last. Honestly, do it the way you prefer and you'll be fine. The tea police have been disbanded, at least in my country.
