Coca-Cola (often abbreviated to “Coke”) is a carbonated cola drink, and is one of the worlds oldest and most popular soft drinks. The Coca-Cola Company’s headquarters are located in Atlanta, Georgia, where the drink was first concocted around 1886. Coke’s inventor John Pemberton was not a shrewd marketer of his drink, but the ownership of Coke eventually passed to Asa Candler, whose company remains the producer of Coke today. Candler’s successful marketing, continued by his successors such as Robert Woodruff, established Coke as a major soft drink first in the United States and later around the world.

Originally designed to be sold at soda fountains, Coca-Cola was later sold in bottles, whose distinctive shape have become a part of the drink’s branding. Major advertising campaigns have established Coca-Cola slogans such as “The pause that refreshes” and “Always the Real Thing” as part of popular culture. The formula for Coke, whose status as a trade secret has been embellished by company lore, once contained trace amounts of cocaine (about 1/400th of a grain, or 0.16 milligrams, per ounce of syrup, in 1902), although this was removed around 1906 as health regulations were tightened. Nevertheless, Coca-Cola has been criticized for its possible negative health effects, with many urban myths surrounding it. In addition, the commercial success of the drink has been periodically challenged, in particular by its main rival Pepsi-Cola. This tension reached its peak during the 1980s, at the height of the Cola Wars, which eventually resulted in the heavily-publicised introduction of “New Coke”, intended to replace the original Coca-Cola. The widely unpopular decision was eventually rescinded in the face of public opposition.

The Coca-Cola Company has on occasion introduced soft drinks under the Coca-Cola brand name. The most famous of these is Diet Coke, which has become a major diet cola, but others exist, such as Cherry Coke. There are also some drinks marketed by the company but which remain unaffiliated with Coca-Cola the drink, such as Sprite.

Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant.

In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There’splentyof that at this particular moment)
40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dialate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumpsmore sugarinto your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.

60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.

60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having theabilityto hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

TThis will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. (As little as two if you’re a smoker.) But, hey, have another Coke, it’ll make you feel better.

*FYI: The Coke itself is not the enemy, here. It’s the dynamic combo of massive sugar doses combined with caffeine and phosphoric acid. Things which are found in almost all soda.

Dr Pepper has been my favorite soda since I was seven. My mom only drinks Coke, and I personally feel that Coke is atrocious. My dad decided I might like Dr Pepper better, and he got me some one day in second grade. I have never looked back. I have at least one a day which is perhaps not so healthy. I should think about switching to diet.

Pop cola taste sizzling fun here in the Philippines. It gives you good shot of burp once you drink it!

It tastes great, has caffine to boost me up, keeps me from getting migraines, I can drink it even iif it gets warm (can't do that with other sodas), they have great commercials, the list just goes on

I love Coke Classic in a glass cup with ice. I don't like using a straw either because the coke is colder on the top half where all the ice is so I slowly sip it and enjoy my drink.

Diet coke No calories,No total fat no total carb.low in sodium. Taste great.better for you than most sodas.

Diet Dr Pepper. I love your simple question/poll.

Why? I was an Avid Dr Pepper Drinker (the Regular Version). Unfortunately, I came down with Diabetes (I guess the regular version wasn't to good to me huh). It took a couple of weeks but I was able to make the switch and now I rarely drink anything else (Soda Wise Anyway). I do wish more restaurants in my area would carry it. Diet Pepsi/Coke is OK but no replacement for me.

i don't like soda i like weter because it good for you

You must go to "rite aid" and try Bigg Fizz cola. For $1.00 you get 3 (yes 3) wonderful liters of the best soda this side of the mississippi. It has good long lasting fizz and it tastes great. The best evidence is to try if for yourself. I heard it tastes good also with alcohal. It comes in 7 different flavors too. Cola, Diet, Lemon-lime, Cherry, Rootbeer, Grape and Orange. I've tried alot of different sodas. I used to drink as much as half a galloon of soda a day. not anymore though.

LEMONADE is my absolute favorite along with L&P(world famous in New Zealand) and lift.

Lemonade:Lemonade, in its uncarbonated form, is among the oldest of commercial soft drinks, dating at least back to the 17th century. In Paris in 1676, a business called the Compagnie de Limonadiers was formed and granted monopoly rights to sell lemonade, which their vendors dispensed in cups from tanks carried upon their backs. The French term limonade has since come to mean "soft drink" in many languages.

Lemonade is a soft drink that is made with lemons. In the U.S. and Canada, lemonade refers to an uncarbonated mixture of lemon juice, sugar, and water. The addition of grenadine makes for the traditional variant called Pink Lemonade. In the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, the term mainly refers to a clear, carbonated, sweet lemon-flavoured soft drink. In India it is commonly referred to as "Nimbu Paani" meaning "Lemon Water" and is sold by many street vendors, especially in North India
