How much water should a person drink per day?!

Question:

How much water should a person drink per day?

Answers:
Some doctors advice to drink half of your body weight in liquid ounces:

i.e.: 150lbs / 2 = 75 liquid ounces

[Edit]

Please don't follow prddp's suggestion below. "Distilled" water is not very good for the body (since it lacks any type of minerals which are important for the body). You should not drink distilled water in large amounts. What prddp meant was probably "pure" water (no soda, tea, coffee or beer).

The average person should drink at least 40oz a day throughout the day.

I found this recommendation quite informative:

A couple of approaches attempt to approximate water needs for the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate.

* Replacement approach. The average urine output for adults is 1.5 liters a day. You lose close to an additional liter of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace the lost fluids.

* Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3.0 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.

eight- eight ounce glasses a day.

the new rule of thumb is half your body weight in ounces,.

As much as you can stomach. They say 6-8 (8 oz) glasses daily.

I've recently heard that you need approximately half of your body weight in ounces...

64 oz. (8 - 8 oz. glasses per day)
Every diet or health program I've been on says this is the recommended daily dosage.

8 glasses of water a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

one ounce per pound of body weight

You should drink at least 8 - 8oz glasses of distilled water every day. Coffee and soda do not count.

eight oz glasses each day, which is good for your skin, and cuticles to go away

I believe 64 ounces (8 glasses, each with 8 oz. of water) is the minimum we should drink.

How I make sure I drink this much: I take two water bottles with me to work each day; each bottle holds 1 liter of water. I drink one in the morning and the other one in the afternoon.

I also drink water in the morning, in the evening after work, at meals, etc. so I am drinking more than the minimum.

Water is good for you. And Distilled Water is not bad for a person; better to drink distilled water than no water at all. We get much minerals out of the food we eat than the water drink!

the normal set amount has been eight eight ounze glasses in a 24 hour period

8 cups..each 8 fl oz
