* For non-athletes, students would rather drink Mountain Dew than bottled water
From my stand point, Pepsi and Coke are one of the least types of soda that students would drink. Otherwise, there is always Pepsi Zero! Hope this helps...

Regular Coca-Cola and Pepsi have become too "old fashioned" for the younger generation these days, that's why both companies have been aggressively adding new flavors.
What's been popular for athletes are sports drinks such as Gatorade (Pepsi) and Powerade (Coke). More recently energy drinks are considered very hip - for the extra boost - however, Red Bull leads the market and 100's of other new entries. AMP (Pepsi) and Full Throttle (Coke) have not done to well in this area.
Mountain Dew (Pepsi) and Sprite (Coke) have been favorites for their non-Cola tastes and effective advertising. "Do the Dew" and "Obey (Your Thirst)" with NBA-tie-ins.
Starbucks Frappuccino in bottles are popular among students and these are bottled by Pepsi. Coke is now working on bottling Caribou Coffee to complete against Pepsi/Starbucks.
