Nutritional Value of Diet Soda?!

Question:

Nutritional Value of Diet Soda?

Ok, so I know that diet soda has no nutritional value, but is drinking it the same as drinking water? (I am talking mostly abou ceffeinated diet pepsi or diet mountain dew).

Answers:
Caffeinated beverages are diuretics (make you pee) - therefore you cannot count them towards your daily fluid requirements.

Diet drinks also contain aspartame - while it is CFIA & FDA approved, studies show that there may be risks of cancer with aspartame consumption. Non-diet soda drinks are loaded with sugar - 4g = 1tsp, so check the label!

Excess calories in any form result in fat gain!
Water is your best bet, or diet drinks made with Splenda!

zero, nada

diet not only doesn't have any nutritional value but also does no good for your body. zero calories doesn't mean zero guilt. the carbonation in the soda alone can make someone just look fat even if they aren't just because the carbonation makes you bloated. i wouldn't risk it even if it's only temporary.

its not the same as water because water has minerals and vitamins that your body needs. it isnt BAD for you though.

No it's not the same as drinking water because the diet pepsi or diet Mt. Dew has caffeine in it.

No, drinking water is much better for you because it is not so acidic, plus it's lacking in all those chemical sweeteners they use to make diet soda taste good. Plus excessive caffeine is bad for you!

No way! You can live without diet soda but you can't live without water. Our bodies are 50% water. I hate diet sodas because the artificial sweeters are not good for you and it tastes really gross.

I have read so many different things on this, I don't really know. But, if you read a soda can label, the first ingredient is water, so basically diet soda is just flavored water.

I have recently read that diet soda, coffee, tea, flavored waters, etc. are all considered in your daily water consumption.

Diet Pepsi and Diet Mountain Dew give you sugar - for quick energy, caffeine - to stay awake, and water to keep you hydrated.

Water just keeps you hydrated.

Diet pop is not good for your body period. Stop drinking it.
