Teaspoonfuls or Teaspoonsful?!

Question:

Teaspoonfuls or Teaspoonsful?

Cadbury's hot chocolate says 3 teaspoonsful and Galaxy's hot chocolate says 3 teaspoonfuls on the instructions, which one is correct?

Answers:
The first is correct. Also, the "-ful" suffix, while not necessary for the majority of the population, is very appropriate. There have been anecdotal cases reported where "3 Teaspoons" resulted in the actual physical consumption of 3 metal teaspoons by people who misunderstood the instructions. It is thought that the addition of the suffix "-ful" would prevent such a thing (probably not if someone is silly enough to swallow three spoons in the first place, but maybe it would cover you from litigation!) Crazy huh?

The first one is correct.

Both are correct. Some people like to make it plural some don't

Neither. It's 3 teaspoons.

The "ful" is redundant. If it's not full, it's not a teaspoon.

haha that is a great observation/question, um I would say the first one. Who knows maybe both can be used, but second one would make more sense as 3 teaspoons full.

Oh! I know, I know! Teaspoonful is the correct answer for the singular term and teaspoons full is the correct plural pronunciation. So HA! Cadbury and Galaxy!

Both are correct according to Merriam-Webster Medical Dictionary, however, for general usage, only Teaspoonfuls is correct according to American Heritage Dictionary and Randhouse Unabridge Dictionary. Go Galaxy!

I do indeed go exploring the sewers. You should do it some time. Aside from the smell, it's pretty cool.

English being the totally screwed up language it is, I suppose both are correct. But if you think about it logically, it's the teaspoon that gets filled and if there are 3, then it's 3 teaspoons

both are correct. it depends on which way you like spelling it.

TeaspoonfulS.
