Why is a can of coke 330ml?!

Question:

Why is a can of coke 330ml?

I have been thinking for months about it and still there is no answer for this. Every light drink, coca cola, sprite whatever, even the glass bottled drinks are 330ml. Why is that? Is it some british measure we have to use?

Answers:
canned beverages are usually 12oz. i think that converts to approx 330ml, but im not sure. that is the size it comes in because cans are not resealable and they go flat if not drank when opened. 12oz/355ml an amount the gives enough to drink, but isnt enough 2 save

Why not?

i think its just generally considered to be a good size, not too big and not too small, just enough to satisfy.

Do you remember the double size cans you used to be able to get, haven't seen those in years?

It's 12 oz

Its jus a realistic average portion! 300ml wudnt b enough n 400ml wud make the cans luk huge and 350ml well they wudnt fit in the supermarket fridges!

So lets jus leave it as it is ok!

may be their lucky number!

maybe, the can is 30 ml if we melt it.
if we think like that,we can see it is logical.
because,if it'd be 350,the drink'd be 320.
if it'd be 300,it'd be 270..

i can't find another logical result :)

I have not been able to locate a source for this answer either. I would guess that the agreement for the size of the container is reached by a consortium of beverage manufacturers, packaging manufacturers and market researchers. Looking at the size equivalents:
330 mL (11.5 Imperial fl. oz., 11 US fl. oz) I don't see any other clues.

It's also 330ml in most of European countries.

In the US: it's 355ml 12 US fl oz;

In Australia it's 375ml in cans

Because that is what cans - with the room for gas - measure up to. What a shame....

330 ml is 1/3 of a litre. its also about the same portion as a normal size serving in a glass in any restaurant. (close to 2.8)
