Does the ingredient "Yellow 5" in Mountian Dew really shrink the guy's balls?!

Question:

Does the ingredient "Yellow 5" in Mountian Dew really shrink the guy's balls?

Someone told me this over 10 years ago and I've never drank Mountian Dew or any other drink that has "Yellow 5" in it since.

Or does it cause any other related effects?

Answers:
Yellow #5 is a FDA-approved food coloring in the US. According to the FDA, there is the following information:

Q. Are certain people sensitive to FD&C Yellow No.5 in foods?

A. FDA's Advisory Committee on Hypersensitivity to Food Constituents concluded in 1986 that FD&C Yellow No.5 may cause hives in fewer that one out of 10,000 people. The committee found that there was no evidence the color additive in foods provokes asthma attacks nor that aspirin-intolerant individuals may have a cross-sensitivity to the color. As with other color additives certifiable for food use, whenever FD&C Yellow No.5 is added to foods, it is listed on the product label. This allows the small portion of people who may be sensitive to the color to avoid it.

However there are no mentioning of its affect on human testicles.

No it does nothing at all to the testicles. Nor does it kill sperm (another popular high school rumor).

Yellow #5 is a perfectly safe, food-grade dye used in all sorts of foods.

Whoever told you that was stupid. No it does not!
