Question:

I am not a coffe drinker and have company coming...?

How much grounds do you put in a 3.5 cup botum and also how long before you push press down and serve.

Answers:
Ah, you're making good coffee for them!

If you have a standard coffee measure (I think it's about 1 1/2 tablespoons) then three or four of them will do, use less if it's a french roast and more if it's a delicate varietal like Celebes Colossi.

After pouring in the boiling water, agitate the grounds a little (Martha Stewart--don't laught--uses a teaspoon; I just put the top on, push the plunger down about 1/3 of the way, then pull it back up.

Push down no sooner than two minutes, longer will make the brew more flavorful but longer than five minutes or so is overkill.

After plunging, let sit a couple more minutes to let precipitate the micro-particles that the screen didn't filter.

What is a botum? Are you using a French Press?
