Would mixed drinks be good if the alcohol was taken away?!

Question:

Would mixed drinks be good if the alcohol was taken away?

I guess what I mean is, since vodka and tequila don't add much taste as much as they do burn, would you be able to take the hard liquors out and substitute schnaaps and grenadine(?) for similar flavors of non-alcohol substitutes? I guess the question that I'm having trouble with is, is it possible for someone who doesn't drink to enjoy the same types of drinks without the alcohol? Some of those mixed drinks seem like they would be good, except I don't drink alcohol. So am I just SOL or do I have other options?

Answers:
There are loads if different drinks which you could try out - any good cocktail book has a section with non-alcoholic cocktails.

These two webites have a great selection of them:

I myself am rather fond of a tequila sunrise without the tequila which is 3 1/2 measues of orange juice and one 1/2 measue of genadine. Definately recommend it!

Hope this was helpful

rum and coke

there are alot of virgin drinks that are good. try a virgin daquiri or a virgin pina colada. in my experience tho asking for a vigin water only gets you laughed at.

There are a LOT of non-alcoholic drinks available. I like a Virgin Mary - no vodka, but all of the spices and tomato juice. I, also, like Pina Coladas without the alcohol. You can do this with almost any drink except for the ones that are made ONLY with alcohol (like a martini or a rob roy).

Be creative and experiment!

hell no. i drink to get drunk

You might as well stick to Kool-Aid if that's the case.

I'm not a big fan of liquor myself, but I do like it in my drinks. However, just not so strong. If you're making a drink yourself, go light on the liquor, maybe half what the recipe calls for. It does add flavor, but not the burn. If you're ordering at a bar, ask the bartender to go light on the liquor. It makes a big difference!

Some mixed drinks taste just fine without the alcohol. I don't drink, but I like virgin Pina Colada's. The fruitier the drink, the less difference in taste.

Virgin drinks are still good - margaritas for instance.
