Is bottled water really better than the water that comes out of the faucet?!

Question:

Is bottled water really better than the water that comes out of the faucet?

Answers:
Depending on the company allot of bottled water is filtered tap water using a Brita filter at home is the same thing.

Then there is reversed osmosis that is a bit better

The best one out there is spring water but than again depending where the spring is. Mountain spring water is great. There is a certain amount of salt in it so if you can not have salt may be it is not a great choice for you. But on the plus side there is other minerals in it as well. Our bodies have a hard time adsorbing minerals even in supplements . The minerals in spring water are easier to adsorb.

Some people think that having bottled water made from icebergs is the best. It is snow that fell 1000's of years ago before the pollution started.

Info from Health Canada

unless you live in a 3rd world country, then no. even if you live in a 3rd world country, probably still no

Most likely not. Some bottled water companies actually bottle tap water believe it or not. And if they aren't bottling tap water there's always the chance that the water becomes contaminated from the plastic that's containing it. And you also have to think that most bottled water companies remove fluoride(which can help promote strong teeth) from the water. So, if you or your children are drinking nothing but bottled water you're likely to have some dental problems b/c of the absence of the fluoride. I'm not saying tap water is great it has it's issues too but bottled water is not as safe as everyone thinks. I have a water filtration system under my sink that works great!

Um... again marketing ploy to convince people who don't know any better to spend more money on the same old thing unless you have got some kind of polutants in your water which you can find out if your tap water has been poluted by taking a sample to your local health department. ( I'm not totally against bottled water ours is safe to drink but it has quite a lot of iron in it so its not very nice to look at so if I am serving water I do tend to use bottled or at least filtered water)

Yes - nearly all bottled water are purified water even if some came share the same municipal water sources or tap water.

Based on the label you could determine its source.

The FDA has strict guidelines on the bottled water label:

Spring Water - Bottled water derived from an underground formation from which water flows naturally to the surface of the earth. Spring water must be collected only at the spring or through a borehole tapping the underground formation feeding the spring. Spring water collected with the use of an external force must be from the same underground stratum as the spring and must have all the physical properties before treatment, and be of the same composition and quality as the water that flows naturally to the surface of the earth.

Purified Water - Water that has been produced by distillation, deionization, reverse osmosis or other suitable processes while meeting the definition of purified water in the United States Pharmacopoeia may be labeled as purified bottled water. Other suitable product names for bottled water treated by one of the above processes may include "distilled water" if it is produced by distillation, deionized water" if it is produced by deionization or "reverse osmosis water" if the process used is reverse osmosis. Alternatively, "___ drinking water" can be used with the blank being filled in with one of the terms defined in this paragraph (e.g., "purified drinking water" or "distilled drinking water").

Mineral Water - Bottled water containing not less than 250 parts per million total dissolved solids may be labeled as mineral water. Mineral water is distinguished from other types of bottled water by its constant level and relative proportions of mineral and trace elements at the point of emergence from the source. No minerals can be added to this product.

Sparkling Bottled Water - Water that after treatment, and possible replacement with carbon dioxide, contains the same amount of carbon dioxide that it had as it emerged from the source. Sparkling bottled waters may be labeled as "sparkling drinking water," "sparkling mineral water," "sparkling spring water," etc.

Artesian Water/Artesian Well Water - Bottled water from a well that taps a confined aquifer (a water-bearing underground layer of rock or sand) in which the water level stands at some height above the top of the aquifer.

Well Water - Bottled water from a hole bored, drilled or otherwise constructed in the ground, which taps the water aquifer.

yes, much better. When you drink from tha faucet, tha water that comes out runs through tha pipes which rust & have bacteria. The bottled water is much better for you and your most likely to not catch any disease or anything. I drink bottled but i cook with water from tha faucet becuz when you cook with it, tha bacteria dies off & tha water is safe again. That`s how they kill bacteria in bottled water, they go through tha geysers & get heated, then they run through tons of rocks to be purified & get bottled at tha source.

Most of the Bottled water companies use municipal water supplies (Disani) (aquafina) other such as Poland Spring Water for example uses drilled wells to get the water.

well it depends your preference of taste...
bottled water is still water just treated smoother than our tap water..but our tap water is safe drinking water too...
here in NY that is...some country need to boil their regular tap water and some part of NY do that too...
