Is it safe to drink tapioca pearl drinks while pregnant?!
Is it safe to drink tapioca pearl drinks while pregnant?
Answers:
Yes, it is. The processing that tapioca goes through renders it safe. Only in places where the natives do their own processing, do they recommend not using tapioca during pregnancy as there is some risk. In light of this, buy your tapioca from a local grocery store rather than a health food store where there is some question as to processing.
For those who don't know, tapioca comes from the cassava, a prime source for cyanide. Sounds scary, but it is common for part of a plant to be poisonous and another part a safe food source.
As far as the drink, the poster above has adequately answered that!

if they are non alcoholic, then i dont see why not.
Is it safe to eat jello when you're pregnant? Or anything with gelatin in it, like jelly? Gummy bears? Yes, it's safe, there's worse things you can be ingesting, just do it in moderation.
Yes it is. Make sure you chew the tapioca pearls before swallowing. Take smaller and softer sips so you don't get too many tapioca into your mouth too quickly or else they'll just go straight down your throat. Don't drink too much of it since most of it is too sweet and too much sugar could lead to gestational diabetes. Finally, don't consume too much caffeine especially if you're consuming pearl drinks with coffee or tea as a base. Request for green tea which has lower caffeine content than regular coffee and black tea.
In reference to CokeWWW's answer, I agree, with the exception of the green tea part. I just found this article: http://www.coffeeonline.cc/883-green-tea... that states that Green tea can interfere with the development of a fetus.

i was a boba fiend when i was pregnant!! ..i drank it often and it didn't interfere with my baby's health or my health ..i drank milk tea or thai tea with some tapioca now and then ..in moderation when i did though ..i sometimes drank it with fruit smoothies that also tasted good without the caffeine ..however boba does contain a lot of starch in it which isn't necessarily good for you and probably would pack on more weight ..but you're gaining weight anyways so i say ..go for it girl! you can't help the things you crave !
