If you are lactose-intolerant, can eat coconut milk?!

Question:

If you are lactose-intolerant, can eat coconut milk?

I would assume it's not the same as dairy milk? What makes something technically dairy... Is it cow milk?

Answers:
yeah, coconut milk isn't dairy. it's actually good for you. Lactose is a carbohydrate, also referred to as milk sugar that it is found in the milk of animals....the fat in coconut milk contains Lauric and Capric acid which have powerful antiviral and antifungal proprieties.

Yes, you can consume coconut milk if you're lactose intolerant. It contains no lactose and that's what irritates the system in dairy. Coconut milk is the product of cooking down regular water and ground coconut meat and then straining the mixture to get out all of the liquid.

The only thing that is considered dairy is milk from an animal whether it be cow, goat, etc. Both dairy milk and coconut milk are high in saturated fat so watch out how much you consume.

If your lactose intolerant, try soya, rice, oat or barley milk. I also have heard from friend who have had babys who could not digest cows milk, that goats milk is fine, it does not contain the lactose that cows milk has.

I am a former chef in Canada and have use and drank goats milk many times, both fresh and evaporated, it does take a bit of time to get used to, there is a slight taste difference. I had camel milk one time and have eaten yak milk cheese and had the yak butter in tea when in a Tibetian restaurant.

Coconut milk should be fine - you should also try soy milk, too.
