Coca-cola??!

Question:

Coca-cola??

my friend told me that coke has cocaine in it. is this true? now whenever i see coke i choose pepsi instead.

Answers:
This is a very old story. The truth is when coca cola was first made by John pemberton he used fresh coca leaves which did infuse the drink with cocaine, but now the company uses spent leaves which contain no cocaine.

no, it's not true.

Years ago when they first started making it it did..Not anymore...Its illegal....Go back to coke...Its fine..

at the turn of the1900's, it would have had cocaine in it. At that time it was an over the counter drug, Shortly after the government banned its use, There isn't any . But Pepsi tastes better and its for the Pepsi generation

Coca-Cola does not contain cocaine.

The original formula of Coca-Cola and the earlier revisions of the formula contained trace amounts of cocaine because one of its key ingredients was coca leaves. For most of the 20th century and now in the 21st century, the revised formula has been using decocainized cola leaves.

Hasn't been true in about 90 years....how old is your friend anyway?

No its not..your friend is just messing with you

i used to work for the coca-cola company so this is something that i know for sure. the original recipe for coca-cola DID contain small amounts of cocaine, hence the name coca derived from the coca plant. i'm not exactly sure what year but the recipe was changed to exclude the intoxicant. so don't worry, it doesn't contain cocaine in it anymore.

way back in the day it did have cocaine in it that has then since changed

gullible

when Coke was first made it did have a bit of cocaine in it.
Coke was first used as tonic in the old days.
these days it does not have any cocaine in it.
you may turn to Pepsi because you like that Pepsi has a sweeter taste then Coke and you like the taste of it better. I like Coke the best but if Coke is not available I will drink Pepsi.

Up until 1904, Coca-Cola contained up to nine miligrams per bottle but it was because they used fresh coca leaves which had trace amounts of cocaine in them. Hence the name as well. It's funny as if you go to the museum, it's a few stories of history and I don't recall seeing one thing in all of it ever mentioning once using cocaine
