How to make a perfect cup of coffee at home?!

Question:

How to make a perfect cup of coffee at home?

I love drinking gourmet coffee especially when it has cinnamon in it. i was wondering how to do it myself at home though?

Answers:
if you are making coffee in a press, then the secret is to make sure the water is not boiling hot. If the water is too hot then it turns the coffee bitter. Put a dash of cinnamon into the coffee grinds and mix. Always use whole beans (stored in the freezer and well sealed for freshness) and grind as required.
You can do the same with a coffee machine but if you find the coffee is always slightly bitter then add a small dash of salt to the grinds instead of cinnamon(in the filter with your grinds) and sprinkle cinnamon on top of your coffee after you pour it.
Also put the cream into your coffee cup before you pour the coffee not after.
Hope this helps:)

my friend owns a coffee house and I have way too much experience in drinking the stuff

Raven is correct, she took the words right out of my mouth.

boil water. add sachet of coffee wiyh either sugar or milk. there you go!

Ok this is what I do for my coffee-fix and you dont need any fancy tool or coffee powder.

I put coffee powder in the mug (in this instance i use international roast brand), then i add just a drop or two of hot water, then I stir vigorously for a minute (or two) - you can start to smell it.

Then add hot water, sugar and milk - net effect is it looks like brewed coffee, the smell and taste is enhanced from the vigorous stirring of the coffee powder.

Then I go grab a piece of kuih or dessert to go with it.

There you have it.

the best way to make the perfect cup at home is to buy one of those small cylinder type coffee grinders and grind the grounds to a very fine powder, ( remember that the grounds are now 3 to 4 time stronger) then you will have to experiment and adjust to your taste/

I suggest you check out this website http://www.ineedcoffee.com/04/delicious/... It has information from TV chef Alton Brown who had an entire show about coffee. How to select it, brew it, store it, the history and science of it all. By the way, according to him coffee is best stored in an airtight container away from any light, but not in the fridge or freezer where the extreme cold separates the oil from the bean(not good.) Like a homemade salad dressing that separates in your fridge. Alton claims that it makes the coffee go stale faster instead of preserving it. I was a skeptic at first, but this guy knows what he's talking about. He's right. I now have the coffee in an airtight container in the cupboard and it tastes just great. I'll tell you guys about how to grind the beans just right so that it's not bitter. later

The key to good coffee is Excellent water quality. You can have the best beans and the best ingredients, however if you have impurities in the water, the coffee will tast awful. You can test your water with a home test kit.
