Question:

Did you know there are 110 calories in orange juice? Why so many calories?

I was looking at this "Simply Orange" bottle and that's exactly what it said, amazing,uh? That's only 30 less than a coke! How come there are so many calories?

Answers:
orange juice has alot of sugar in it. All foods have some calories you have to consider all the factors- coke has no nutrients whatsoever and is empty calories- orange juice is loaded with vitamins

IT IS A FRUIT...SO IT IS CONSIDERED GOOD CALORIES.

i'd say it's relative to the amount of sugar added to the juice. check the carbs/sugars, and you'll see what i mean. just add some tanqueray in there and call it good.

Look at the ingredients on the bottle a lot of these have high fructose corn syrup and other ingredients added. Even if it 100 percent fruit juice....it has natural sugar.

Fruit has a lot of sugar in it. But, 110 really isn't that much, and it's loaded with vitamins so don't stop drinking it because you think you'll get fat or some nonsense.

The orange is a fruit with a lot of fructose (fruit sugar) in it. Most tropical fruits have a lot of sugar. It's not so bad when you consider a healthy person eats between 2000 and 2500 calories per day.

Juice isn't as healthy as fruit, either. Whole fruit has skin and other fiber in it, which can make you feel a lot better than drinking juice.

In general, one serving of fruit equals about 60 calories. One serving of fruit is like one orange, one apple, one pear, etc. So think about squeezing all of the juice out of an orange. It would probably take about 2 oranges to equal the serving size that your orange juice container suggests aka 110 calories.

It's not all that many calories if you think about consuming about 2,000 calories a day, but that's why it's suggested that people consume whole fruit over fruit juices. You get more bang for your calorie buck with all of the additional fiber that whole fruit contains.

That's correct, fruit juices contain a lot of sugar, natural fruit sugar.

there are about 100 kcal in a large orange too. You do the math.
Orange juice is made from oranges, so it has the fruit sugars that the orange has. It also has the vitamins, and the good ones have some of the fiber ( I like oj with pulp).
coke has just empty sugar, no vitamins or calcium,
